The Value of Every Human Life

“The next foundational step in addressing our culture is the value of every human life…

The love of God sent Jonah to Nineveh… Jonah’s response and rejection of that calling was the normal human response… This was a Pagan nation who was opposed Israel, God’s chosen people…

Jonah didn’t value them, they had gone too far, they were too evil… Jonah knew the heart of God, Jonah knew God would grant mercy in their lives, and so Jonah decided to play God… ‘if they don’t hear, they cannot know to repent’… he judged they didn’t deserve the truth, the grace, and the peace of God…

Jonah hoped for their destruction… but God had a different perspective…

Jonah 4:10-11 – Then the Lord said, “You had compassion on the plant, for which you did not work and which you did not cause to grow, which came up overnight and perished overnight. Should I not also have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 people, who do not know the difference between their right hand and their left, as well as many animals?”

God loves and values every human life, and gives his own life for the restoration of those that hate him… for us…

By saying every life has value we are not dismissing sin… only that we will not allow our value and love for people to hinge on our comfort level with their bondage… God is not cool sin, He desires that they would be free… that is why He came…

Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Sin does not invalidate the value of a human life, or the genuine love we should express toward His lost sheep…

The father looked at every person here today, every person on this planet in fact, and said that each person is worth the Blood of His only son…

We ought to bless people with the same love and value that we have received…

God loves and values everyone on every side of every issue…

Proverbs 22:2 – The rich and the poor have a common bond,
The Lord is the Maker of them all.

Proverbs 29:13 – The poor person and the oppressor have this in common:
The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.

The value of every human life should inform us on both issues and the people that are affected by them…

We must see peoples intrinsic value, all life has value to God, He was that life’s creator… we are image bearers of God… at the same time we are all fallen and in need of mercy and grace… and loved deeply by God…

It’s only with the help of the Holy Spirit that we can truly realize this truth within our lives…”
