The Test of Prayerfulness

“When our communication with God, our prayer life, is weak, it’s like pitching with our off handed…

The right use of our voice is to call upon Him in all times and in all situations…

In all situations we are called to seek and commune with Him… to make petitions, and offer our praise and thankfulness…

God is inviting us to come to Him in prayer in our hard times… He’s not ducking His head avoiding us as if it’s too hard for Him…

When we are blessed there is no need to be shy about it, but be thankful for it, give honor to the one who has blessed you…

Many times it can seem that serving God is a dirge because all we seem to hear is the hardship, a little bit of praise is a good thing… good news is good…

As we pray we draw nearer to God… as we draw nearer to God, the more we are willing to give into His loving and willing hands all our needs… the more we are willing to trust Him in the journey, we have a greater capacity to let go of the anxiety that would control us… the more we can let go of the anxiety, the more we’ll be able to see His mighty hand move within our lives, whether the answer to our prayers is what we’ve expected or not…

Both praise and petition equate to intimacy…

James isn’t speaking figuratively; he literally means – we are to pray and God can actually heal us…

Intercessory pray is a privilege and something we all can do… Moses’ Hands being lifted as Israel fought the battle in the valley… so it is with the Church and our spiritual warfare… We must intercede for others even to the point of intercession for the intercessors…

Not all sickness is a result of personal sin…

Sometimes a continuing sin is creating sickness within us… and we need to deal with the sin first and when that is resolved the physical healing can happen…

Our relationships affect the effectiveness of our prayers…

Confession is a good idea whether we are sick or not… It’s a necessary part of repentance…

Too much of our modern repentance is shallow and superficial, because it allows us to hold onto our self-righteous pride…

Bold confession transforms a person…

The question we have to ask as a church is… have we created an environment within the church where confession is acceptable…

One of the reasons so many of us struggle with sin is that we’re fighting in the dark what we should be fighting in the light…

If you believe yourself a mature believer; and if someone opens up to you about a struggle or a past hurt, you are to be a part of that “heal”ing agent within their lives in prayer and accountability…

To confess allows someone else’s wisdom and eyes into our lives to pray, help and hold us accountable to continue in repentance and righteousness…

If we can live this out… the closeness and brotherly love that will radiate from this place will be able to be seen from the moon..

“The prayer of a righteous person…” Those in right relationship with God, and who rely on Him to do right have power in their prayers… notice is didn’t say ‘perfect…’

If we are in an active relationship with God, and His refining fire is continually working its way through our lives… by virtue of our nearness to Jesus through that relationship, His power radiates from our lives through prayer…

God is far more concerned with our character than our limited, mortal, finite comfort…

We have more power than we know in the simple act of prayer… Our prayers and faith cause good things to happen that otherwise wouldn’t…

Will you approach your personal situation in communion with God?
In hardship and sickness with prayer and faith…
In sin with repentance, confession and transparency…
In blessing with praise and worship for the whom all good things flow from…”
