The Squeeze Play

“Duress and hardship squeezes out who we really are… it exposes us…

This is challenging but… What is exposed in our duress is what’s really in our hearts, in spite of our best intentions…

When we are squeezed, and we don’t like what comes out, we have a choice;
We can ignore it and limp through life never experiencing the fullness of God…

• Trials are no guarantee of growth, the duress we experience doesn’t necessarily mature us… Just as gray hair doesn’t always mean we act wisely…

• It’s possible to keep walking around those same mountains… hardship can make us bitter, cold and unloving… put there is another path…

We can repent, and allow God to transform our heart into one closer to His…

• Hardship can make us bitter, cold and unloving… or hardship can make us better, warm and full of the love of God…

Hardship exposes the weakness of our hearts… it reminds us of just who we are when we are not fully in tune with Jesus…

For those that don’t pass this test well, it’s not our place to judge them… we’ve all failed the squeeze test… it’s only by his grace that we ever pass…

Duress can in fact bring freedom… there is a great freedom in having nothing to hide… as life squeezes us it exposes us… it puts it to the light… and if repented of, that light forms our character to be more like God’s…
• When we are squeezed in that same way in life, then the good stuff of God begins to squeeze out…

• We no longer have to live our lives covering shame… Now we can focus our energies on pursuing Jesus a little closer, instead of hiding the skeletons in our closet…

Jesus knew what it was like to be squeezed by hardships of life… Yet in all this squeezing… all that ever came out of His life was the perfect character of God…

The death of Jesus was the ultimate squeeze play… Either Jesus would be proved a false Prophet and a liar, yeah crazy but maybe a nice guy anyways… or Jesus was telling the truth, and he would rise… and in doing so he would make away for all of humanity to know him…
• It was the ultimate squeeze play, it would expose Jesus for who he truly was…

Jesus was squeezed by death and eternal life was revealed…”
