The Power of The Tongue: The Manifestation

“Our words hold great power…

You may not feel that significant, but your words have great power…

God has called us all to remove slander, dirty joking, cursing, gossip and so on from our conversations… but God doesn’t simply remove those things, He provides a replacement… Thanksgiving…

Don’t allow fear to control your speech… We can have confidence in Christ…
• Fear drives us to lie…
• Fear keeps us from saying the things we should… But not living in fear doesn’t mean being foolish… there are times to be silent… Not all our opinions need to be expressed…

We can be fearless without being foolish…

Our idle words are not small things… they do have the power of curse…
• It’s so easy to be careless with our words and unwittingly curse those we love… How do we speak to those within our lives? our children? our friends? Ourselves?
• Our curses have the effect of lowering people’s expectations of themselves… Self-fulfilled prophecies…

Controlling our tongue is more than not saying bad things, but saying good things…
A “fitly spoken” word doesn’t mean that we only say the easy things… love requires saying the hard things as well…

Truly living and speaking words that are self-controlled is an ethic of replacement, not absences… The replacement of evil with good, not simply the absence of evil… we need to speak good things…

Sometimes to say nothing is equally as bad as saying something evil… God has called us to defend the rights of those that cannot defend themselves… We must be willing to speak up…

Though our words have great power, that power is subject to the sovereignty of God… and to humanities response to the desire of God…

We have no idea the length of the journey people will take… So as long as someone is alive (unless God says to stop) I’m going to keep on praying… and believing for healing and transformation…

I’m the one that brings the petition to God… but God is the one that grants the petition… I’m not God, He is God, and whatever my desire is, it has to be submissive to the desire of God…”

Colossians 4:6 – Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Ephesians 5:19 – addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart…
