Godly Wisdom

“The wisdom of God only adds to our lives… without wisdom from God we can completely miss what God is trying to work out within our lives… He desires that we are “lacking in nothing”

If wisely dealt with, the challenges of life refine us (they expose our character both good and bad… we learn from it and grow)… but it is hard to bear the challenges of life ‘wisely’… we need wisdom from God to do this, this is not in our own ability…

So He tells us to ask Him for wisdom… Wisdom is a gift from God…

“He gives simply to those who pray simply. He bestows liberally upon those who petition liberally.”

In fact the Holy Spirit is referred as the “Spirit of Truth”…

And if you’ve messed up and feel unworthy of such a gift, take heart… He gives “without reproach” – either on our past failures, or our current unworthiness…

“Ask in faith”… This is not a situation of God being mean…without faith we don’t have steady enough hands and hearts to receive His wisdom… we’re unable receive… we must believe in the one we’re asking…

It’s not that God doesn’t want to give us wisdom, it’s that we’re unable to receive it, a good prayer would be “God give me faith to receive your wisdom”

The wisdom of God is not theoretical mumbo-jumbo, to truly be wisdom from God it must have an application, and it had the power to transform our lives…

Wisdom and faith are both seen in our actions, not just our words… if we desire to be used of God in greater ways these truths need to be applied within our lives… we must live it out…

This is not a proud leadership or wisdom… “meekness” – this is the condition of the heart that exercises Godly wisdom ‘gentleness of spirit’… humility’ …

Concerning Ungodly wisdom… The aim here is personal victory rather than the triumph of truth…

The wisdom of God will never make sense to a fallen world… there isn’t enough ego in it…

We must reject the spirit of strife, seek godly wisdom, and come to the understanding that true wisdom is both humble, and active…

Christ covers us in His righteousness; only we have to remain in that covering… we have a posture of clinging to Jesus… this isn’t a work of man…

This is what God is promising us when He says He will give us wisdom…
• not to be the guys who does the best on Jeopardy…
• but a life of genuine wisdom, discernment and understand that is transformed and seeks the transformation of others toward Christ…

True wisdom is simply living our lives in harmony with His heart… wisdom is bound up with the life of faith in Jesus, it makes the will of God its rule, and His glory its end…

The is the effect of wisdom is righteousness and peace…

Jesus, our righteous king, our prince of peace, is our model of wisdom… let us ask for the wisdom we so desperately need…”
