Before there were Kings: Hurt by the Church

“My heart in this service is not to minimize any hurt that anyone has experienced at the hands of the church… only to encourage the healthiest response to that hurt…

Hannah’s life was marked with chaos and the church had issues…

Moses missed it in his leadership…

Hannah’s husband was trying but doesn’t quite get it…

“year by year” this mocking was not a moment, but the pattern of her life… it took its toll…

In her grieving state it would have been the easiest thing in the world to lash out…

When people are coming from a place of hurt, and trauma, it is natural to lash out, it’s reflexive…

In spite of all the chaos in Hannah’s life they were faithful to the house of the Lord… she was going to the right place, she knew the source of healing and restoration was with the Lord in prayer…

She would entrust her son to serve in a dysfunctional place of worship…

So we see she went diligently to the Lord in prayer. and continued to trust God, she would not forsake fellowship and communal worship of God…

Though these were not ideal situations for this child, because of her faithfulness to God He blessed Samuel, and her, and the nation…

In Samuel’s life God would restore the church because of His love for the church, and her faithfulness. Sometimes when we remove ourselves from the church, we are the very one’s God wants to use to restore the church…

We should not leave a church because of hurt, or anger (it will follow us)… but move on as God would move us on…

Samuel was not only a blessing to Hannah but the entire nation of Israel…

My heart breaks that the ‘church’ has been such a tool of pain… but do not allow that hurt to drive you from His bride (the Church)… the enemy wants us on an island…

So many stay out of church, they still believe in God but they lay out… in doing so they miss opportunities to find healing… please don’t allow hurt to rob you more than it already has… the enemy will use hurt to drive us from God and our brothers and sisters in Christ…

Hannah responded well to hurt, she remained faithful, and God ministered to her need and her blessing became the blessing of the whole nation of Israel…”
