Before there were Kings: God is Holy and to be Honored

“The joy of the arks return would be marred by the death of their friends…

All sins bring us separation from God… but not all sins have the same effect or price in this lifetime… I’m not saying God is cool with one sin over the other, or one separates us a little less from God… only that it’s effects are different…

The ark was God’s chosen special inhabitation and place for worship, not some tourist attraction…

The punishment of God is never disproportionate…

These Levites lacked reverence, holy fear, and they presumed upon God…

Being intellectually curious is good, but it must be pared with humility and reverence…

Beth-shemesh was a city of priest that would have, or should have, known not to dishonor the ark like this… As soon as the priest showed up it should have been covered and treated as holy…

Leaving it uncovered lead the people into sin… instead of being holy it became an object of curiosity…

A holy God given proper honor and respect is a great blessing within our lives… a holy God dishonored is not a situation you want to be associated with…

Our reaction to the holy shouldn’t be banishment of the holy, but repentance, and honor…

“who can stand in the presence of a Holy God…” In Christ’s blood we can… He took our hearts, lives and souls and made them the very temple of the Holy Spirit…

But this doesn’t mean, because we’re in the New Testament, that we have a license to be unholy to a holy God… Exactly the opposite… When we don’t treat our God as holy bad things happen…

Honoring God is about hearing His words and treating them with the weight they deserve…

They treated as common something that was sacred and holy… He is a holy God, let us treat Him as such…”
